Numotion Foundation Supports Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes
The Numotion Foundation was proud to support Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes, a nonprofit that has been creating custom costumes for kids who use walkers and wheelchairs for the past 10 years. What began as a single project has grown into a nationwide movement powered by hundreds of volunteers, schools, robotics teams, and college groups working together to build costumes that are always free for families.
Bringing Magic, Joy, and Inclusion Through Costumes
Since its founding, Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes has built more than 200 costumes, with requests continuing to grow every year. Chapters in Kansas City, Wichita State University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Blue Ridge Region now extend the organization’s reach, helping children across the United States from Florida to Hawaii experience the joy of being fully included in the fun of dressing up. This year, the organization will even ship its first international costume to a young girl in Canada.
Each costume is a true labor of love, requiring about 150 hours of work and $350 to $500 in materials. For families who live far from a chapter, costumes are carefully shipped, sometimes at an additional cost of several hundred dollars. The most expensive shipment to date was $1,500 to ensure a girl in Hawaii could experience her dream costume. Every detail and every dollar go directly into making magical moments possible.
“Thanks to the generous support of the Numotion Foundation, Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes is able to create even more custom-built costumes for kids who use walkers and wheelchairs. These costumes transform experiences like Halloween or any occasion to dress up into unforgettable moments filled with joy, confidence, and inclusion. For many of the children we serve, it is the first time their peers look beyond the disability and simply see them as another kid in an amazing costume. The Numotion Foundation’s partnership makes it possible for us to bring more smiles, more magic, and more opportunities for kids to shine,” shared Lon Davis, Co-Founder and Creative Designer of Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes.
Together, Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes and the Numotion Foundation are proving that inclusion can be creative, joyful, and unforgettable. One costume at a time, they are helping kids feel seen, celebrated, and empowered to shine.
