The University of Miami ALS Center’s 2026 Patient Symposium welcomed approximately 190 participants, including people living with ALS, their families and caregivers, and allied health professionals. Neurologists and clinicians from across South Florida also attended to share insights and best practices for patient care.

Participants joined from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties, as well as Naples and surrounding areas, creating a vibrant, regional gathering for learning, connection, and support.

Bringing the ALS Community Together

Funding from the Numotion Foundation helped the center provide lunch for all attendees, host a guest speaker from another ALS specialty center, and offer Spanish-language translation services. These elements ensured that the symposium was inclusive, engaging, and accessible to everyone in attendance.

“Support from the Numotion Foundation allows us to bring patients, families, and clinicians together in a meaningful way. Your funding helps remove barriers—whether through accessibility, education, or community connection—so individuals living with ALS and their loved ones feel supported, informed, and empowered. This symposium would not have the same impact without this partnership,” explained Ginna Gonzalez, Advanced Practice Director of University of Miami ALS Center.

With this partnership, the University of Miami ALS Center continues to strengthen the ALS community by connecting patients, families, and care teams in ways that educate, support, and inspire.
