The Numotion Foundation was recently proud to support the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by Huntington’s disease (HD), juvenile HD (JHD), and those at risk of developing the disease. Serving approximately 10,000 people across nine counties in the South Bay, North Bay, and East Bay, the Chapter delivers vital programs that bring care, resources, and hope to HD families.

Empowering Families Impacted by Huntington’s Disease

Through community fundraising and donations, the Chapter provides a wide range of no-cost services that make a meaningful impact. Families can access expert care at two HDSA Centers of Excellence at Stanford Health and UCSF Medical Center, where neurologists and clinical teams deliver a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and research. A local social worker is also available by phone and email to offer guidance, connect families with resources, and help them navigate difficult challenges.

In addition to clinical care, the Chapter offers two in-person support groups led by a genetic counselor and social worker, as well as multiple online groups to ensure families have opportunities to connect and share experiences. The HDSA Disability Program provides legal advocacy for those initially denied benefits, helping families secure critical support. Each year, the Chapter also hosts a free Family and Professional Education Day, bringing the HD community together for learning, empowerment, and connection. Additionally, youth and young adults find community and leadership opportunities through HDSA’s National Youth Alliance (NYA), which offers a network of support for the next generation.

Community events like the Hope Walk/Run, held this past May, also play an important role in raising awareness and support for HD families. Contributions from the Numotion Foundation helped make this event possible, bringing people together to honor loved ones, celebrate progress, and fund critical local services.

The generosity of partners like the Numotion Foundation ensures these services continue to reach more families each year. “A donation from Numotion provides HDSA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter with essential resources that directly fund and expand our services, allowing us to serve the HD community more effectively,” said Therese Crutcher-Marin, President of the HDSA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter.

Together, the HDSA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter and the Numotion Foundation are bringing critical resources and hope to families, building a stronger future for the HD community across the Bay Area.
