Numotion Foundation Continues to Support United Spinal Association of El Paso
Each year, the Greater El Paso District Physical Therapy Association hosts its Annual 5K Run, Walk and Roll with a clear mission: to promote health, wellness, and physical activity for all abilities while raising awareness of spinal cord injuries and the physical therapy profession.
This year marked the 33rd annual event, bringing together 283 participants from El Paso, Texas, Southern New Mexico, and Juarez, Mexico. Among them were members of the United Spinal Association of El Paso, which serves approximately 60 individuals living with spinal cord injuries in the region. Over the years, proceeds from this event have been a vital source of funding for the Chapter’s ongoing programs and support.
Promoting Health and Wellness for All Abilities
A grant from the Numotion Foundation helped ensure strong participation from individuals with spinal cord injuries and their families. The funds were split evenly to provide a barbecue hosted by the Chapter and to offset participation costs for Chapter participants. This support allowed many individuals to take part in activities they may not have otherwise been able to experience.
Ron Prieto of the United Spinal Association of El Paso excitedly shared that “The Numotion Foundation grant for this event has definitely contributed to the success of the event and being able to involve individuals with a SCI and their families in activities that they may not have otherwise participated in. The Numotion Foundation keeps us moving!”
Beyond the 5K, the partnership continues. The El Paso Chapter plans to utilize an additional grant for an adaptive boating event with Global Opportunities Unlimited in 2026, expanding opportunities for recreation and community engagement.
Through events like the 5K Run, Walk and Roll, individuals and families are staying active, building community, and proving that health and wellness truly are for everyone.
