The Numotion Foundation was proud to continue its support of Jett Foundation, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people and families impacted by Duchenne muscular dystrophy through the development of transformative programming, educational opportunities, and ongoing support for every stage of a Duchenne journey. Jett Foundation was established in 2001 by Christine and Stephen McSherry, parents of a son with Duchenne.

Jett Foundation aims to empower individuals and families impacted by Duchenne muscular dystrophy with knowledge, resources, and opportunities to live their best lives. One of the many ways in which the organization has continued to accomplish its vision is through the Accessible Vehicle Fund arm of its Jett Giving Fund program, which the Numotion Foundation was pleased to support with a $4,000 grant.

Since its inception in 2017, the Jett Giving Fund has delivered 108 accessible vehicles to families across the country, fundamentally transforming their daily lives. The need is immense: over half of all applications come from single-parent households, and nearly half report household incomes of less than $50,000, underscoring the severe financial hardship Duchenne can impose. Approximately 20% of applications annually are for families with more than one child living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, highlighting the compounded challenges. Jett Foundation averages supporting 15 families in the program each year.

This $4,000 grant directly supports the program, helping a family navigating Duchenne to acquire a crucial accessible vehicle. For families impacted by Duchenne, accessible transportation is not merely a convenience; it is a vital necessity that fosters independence, enhances social inclusion, and significantly improves overall quality of life. This direct support helps bridge the critical gap in funding for these life-changing modifications, ensuring families can access medical care, school, and community activities safely and with dignity.

“We are incredibly grateful for the Numotion Foundation’s continued partnership and their generous support of our Accessible Vehicle Fund program. This kind of tangible support is absolutely vital to our mission, especially considering the significant financial and logistical challenges our families face every day,” says Jett Foundation CEO and President, Eric Snyder.
