Numotion Foundation Continues Support of Individual Abilities in Motion
As a program of its 2024 partnership with United Spinal Association, the Numotion Foundation provided program support to Individual Abilities in Motion, United Spinal’s NE Pennsylvania chapter. The event provided those living with mobility-related disabilities the opportunity to experience equipment designed to provide greater access to nature and the outdoors.
Joseph Salva, President of Individual Abilities in Motion provided the following impact story:
Dear Numotion Foundation,
On behalf of everyone that is a part of our organization and those who participate in our programs, I want to personally extend my sincere thanks for your support! Without the support of our community and organizations like yourself, we would not be able to do what we do and continue our mission to enrich the lives of individuals with mobility impairments.
As you know, each year we hold a variety of different events as part of our Get Out, Get Active program, some of which have become quite popular to the point we consider them signature events and automatically schedule them into our calendar. Our Off-Road Adapted Cycle event is one example. Created three years ago as an opportunity for individuals to come out and try a variety of different equipment designed to allow people with mobility impairments to explore the outdoors, we believed it would be well-liked, but in many ways, it has exceeded our initial expectations. Tis past year was no exception.
Last September, we coordinated with several other organizations and companies, both local and out-of-state, to have different types of adapted equipment for attendees to try. With nine different options, from non-powered to fully electric, there was something for everyone to get out and enjoy the natural setting. And enjoy it they did! We had over 100 people registered for the event from as far south as Philadelphia as well as a number of people from New York and New Jersey making the trip to join us. Here are a few quotes to help illustrate the positive impact the event had on those who participated.
“Thank you for the opportunity to get off the beaten path and enjoy the outdoors!” – Amanda H.
“This made me feel wonderful and like a free spirit. It’s a great opportunity!” – Lisa C.
“I AM adapted events are one of the many things I look forward to during the summer. It not only allows me to participate in all sorts of activities but meet other people who live the same lifestyle as me.” – Frank M.
“This was the best time. A nice way to get outdoors! I’m going to sleep well tonight! – Candace A.
I think these quotes speak to the many benefits that having the opportunity to participate in adaptive activities can have on an individual’s life. Personally, seeing the smiles and being part of the energy and atmosphere of the day adds a whole other level to such a great experience. Thank you for your role in making it all possible and for joining us in our work to help enrich lives! We are excited to continue holding the Off-Road Adapted event and hope to see it grow into a premier adapted outdoor equipment expo on the east coast. With partners like you, we can make that happen.
Once again, thank you!
Joseph Salva
