The 21st Annual Race To Nowhere took place on February 23rd at the Kirmayer Fitness Center in Kansas City. Participants raced stationary bikes as fast as they could to raise support for the MS Achievement Center to continue to provide life-changing programs for adults with multiple sclerosis. The Numotion Foundation joined others who contributed to the event. This year’s race raised over $70,000 to support the progress people are making at the MS Achievement Center. We are proud to work with ALS Association as a National Partner, to help raise awareness in the fight against ALS. The Numotion Foundation officially kicked off our Walk to Defeat ALS season in Sarasota, Florida, on Saturday, March 2. Several Numotion employees volunteered on behalf of the Foundation to help make the day a success. 

In early February, the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Blackhawks hosted the 2018-2019 USA Hockey Sled Classic — and defeated the Colorado Avalanche 8-2 in the championship game. As champions, the Blackhawks keep their claim on the O’Connor Courage Trophy. Players’ names are inscribed on the trophy, which is housed at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada. Thirty teams participated in the tournament and each was sponsored by an NHL team from across the country. I had the pleasure to attend the Numotion NLC in San Antonio, Texas and take part in their “March Madness” style wheelchair basketball tournament. The first ever Numotion Foundation fundraiser took place at the Numotion National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas. More than 750 Numotion employees participated in a carnival-like affair – the event featured photo opportunities with Numo, Numotion’s sponsored service dog, and midway games featuring adaptive sports activities created by Numotion Expo partners. Morgan’s Wonderland, the world’s first ultra-accessible theme park, opened in 2010 and has since hosted more than 1 million visitors from 65 different countries. Guests with special needs can enter the park at no charge, and all rides and attractions are accessible to visitors regardless of disabilities. Their mission, “to provide a safe, clean and beautiful environment free of physical and economic barriers that all individuals – regardless of age, special need or disability – can come to and enjoy” aligns with the Foundation perfectly.
